Privacy & Cookie Policy

We do not have accounts, a mailing list, or advertising on ARL2. We only use information needed to create, deliver, and help you recover your map.

What ARL2 handles

When you make a map, we process the place you choose, the map title you provide, and the map job details needed to generate and deliver the artwork. We retain map and order records for delivery, recovery, and support.

When you request a free preview, we use your IP address only to limit free previews to five per rolling 24-hour period. The address is sent to our map service through an authenticated server-to-server request and immediately converted to a keyed pseudonymous value. The rate-limit service does not store or log the raw address. Its counter records contain only rolling-window data: expired records are removed on later checks, with a retention sweep provided for addresses that make no further requests.

The “Report this map to us” button on a finished free preview is a one-click flag, not a support form: it does not collect your name, email, or a message, and reporting a map does not create a two-way conversation or promise a reply. When you use it, we record the report time and the map/job identifier, location, and internal PDF reference already held for that job, plus the pseudonymous IP-derived value described above, stored alongside the report. Report records, including that pseudonymous value, are used only for internal map-quality review and are retained until a daily cleanup run removes report records older than 90 days. The separate rate-limit rows used to cap free previews are distinct records tied to the pseudonymous IP value rather than to a specific report, and become eligible for cleanup after 24 hours of inactivity.

Payments

Checkout is provided by Stripe. Stripe processes payment and receipt details on its checkout page; ARL2 does not store card details. We place a hold when you check out and capture payment only when your full map is ready. If we cannot create it, we release the hold.

Cookies and storage

We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies. The functional storage below helps the site work; it does not identify you for marketing.

arl2_map cookie
Stores your map code for 30 days so you can return to a finished map on this browser.
arl2-theme local storage
Remembers your light or dark theme preference until you clear it.
arl2_view session storage
Keeps the map view during a Stripe checkout return, then disappears when the browser tab closes.

Other services

The interactive map uses OpenStreetMap tiles and map-search libraries delivered through unpkg. MapTiler supplies imagery embedded in the downloadable artwork. These services do not receive an ARL2 account or mailing-list record because ARL2 has neither.
